Lake Austin, Lake Travis, and Lady Bird Lake are part of the seven Highland Lakes in Central Texas. Located in the Texas Hill Country, these lakes start 65 miles northwest of Austin; they include Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Lake Marble Falls, Lake Travis, Lake Austin, and Lady Bird Lake.
Lake Austin goes through center of Austin and connect to Lady Bird lake which goes through downtown Austin. Lake Austin is one Roya's favorites because it is a constant-level lake, with clear water and beautiful scenery. Twenty-two miles long, Lake Austin covers 1,830 acres of gorgeous views, campgrounds, parks, and commercial and private properties. Lake Austin is ideal for skiing, partying, camping, and cruising as you sip a cold beer or soda and look in awe at the cliffs, trees, and beautiful homes nestled in some of the most desirable neighborhoods in Austin. Prices of these properties range from $500,000 for a small condo with Lake Austin views to $40+ million for a large tract of waterfront property.

Lady Bird Lake/Town Lake - If you are not interested in boating, you can enjoy the many activities offered by Town Lake. Appropriately six miles long, the reservoir is impounded by Longhorn Dam and is the last in a chain of seven lakes on the Colorado River in Central Texas. Originally named Town Lake, in 1960, it was renamed Lady Bird Lake in 2007 to honor Lady Bird Johnson and her contributions to Austin's natural beauty and environment. Running through the heart of downtown Austin, the lake serves as a public water supply, is a highly valued recreational area with its beautiful hike and bike trails, and provides important aquatic and riparian habitat for organisms not often found in urban areas.

Town Lake/Lady Bird Lake is 400 feet to 2,500 feet wide at its widest point and has an average depth of 14 feet. This placid lake is a constant-level lake, ideal for canoeing and paddle boarding. Swimming, motorized boats and jet skis are not allowed. You can also enjoy a nice long walk along the lake or do a little jogging or bike riding along the trails situated on both sides of the lake. Properties which front Lady Bird Lake are very limited since most of the shores of the lake are dedicated park land. However, the University of Texas owns approximately 345 acres called Brackenridge Tract which can be developed in future. A large portion of this land is located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake.
Lady Bird Lake with its trails and beautiful blue waters adds to the beauty of Downtown Austin and offers enjoyment to many.
