Barton Creek Estate Golf Course Community and Homes for Sale
Driving through this section of Austin you see and feel the aura of the Hill Country. Barton Creek Estates is a premier country club community. Nestled within 4,000 secluded acres of rolling hills of West Austin, the Barton Creek Resort offers three of the finest golf courses in the city (Barton Creek Golf Courses), plus tennis, swimming, and a luxury resort hotel and Barton Creek Resort & Spa. This area has some of the most beautiful newer homes in Austin, priced from $650K to $25 million. Ben Barnes and Former Texas Governor John Connolly had great vision when they established a joint venture with Kindred & Company to manage the project. Even though their vision was superb, their timing was off. In May of 1987, the Barton Creek property changed hands after the declaration of bankruptcy by Barnes/ Connally. The grand opening of Barton Creek Resort was held in September of 1987. In 1989, the property was sold to ClubCorp Resorts; I am proud to say I was invited, as one the top agents, to participate in a panel with five of the top builders in Austin who were allowed to build in that community. I also consulted with the developer on what to build regarding style, size, and types of material to use in the planning stages of many of the neighborhoods in this outstanding community. Ironically today, Ben Barnes lives just a few blocks from us in Central Austin.

There are many other great neighborhoods in this section of Austin. One of my old favorites is Travis Country, one of the first environmentally planned neighborhoods in Austin. The Green at Travis Country includes the Sycamore Creek Nature Trail. The 1.5-mile trail connects the two amenity areas, which include swimming and baby pools, picnic tables and grills, lighted tennis and basketball courts, and fenced playgrounds. Barton Creek Wilderness Park surrounds the west end of Barton Creek Greenbelt and features heavily wooded hike and bike trails. It is popular with day hikers, runners, bikers and dog lovers.
